In 2026 the masterclasses of the European Hanseatic Ensemble will enter their eighth year! This year, the project YHTM – Young Talents for Hanseatic Music will once again be the focus of the masterclasses.
Again, a team of internationally renowned teachers will work with young talented musicians during a four day masterclass dedicated to European music of the 16th and 17th centuries. The course will consist of individual lessons (2 x 45 minutes), furthermore there will be special emphasis on ensemble work. Repertoire for the masterclasses is to be prepared ahead of time and the pieces named in your application.
Please supply us with recordings of your musical work that can be forwarded to the teachers for the selection of the participants. Consider European works exclusively from the Renaissance and Early Baroque (no Händel, Bach, Vivaldi, etc.) and send them as requested. The pieces do not need to have a conection to the Hanseatic cities. You can find all the specifications and further information here.
The music for the ensemble work will be chosen according to the selected participants. The sheet music will be sent to the participants in due time.
Organists who are admitted to the masterclasses in Lübeck are strongly encouraged to also participate in the Arp Schnitger Academy in Gothenburg (2 – 7 August 2026) and are also recommended to participate in the Schiörlin Academy (9 – 12 August 2026). Click here for more details.
In keeping with the motto of the European Union “United in diversity”, we welcome all applications, regardless of ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual identity, disability and socio-economic background.
